Skying

I was going to talk about this album in the previous post, however it's all i've been listening to for the past week, so the post may have been half a page long. Yes, it is of course The Horrors' third studio album and possibly their finest. Coming incredibly close to my personal favourite Strange House. After all of the leaks, the band streamed the whole album on their website, so i couldn't resist until having my own copy for much longer. Within the first few songs, i honestly felt like weeping. A new Horrors album, the way they've progressed, and a beautiful album. Faris' voice on You Said is surprisingly euphoric. Then there is the opening to Endless Blue, which may be my favourite part on the whole album, the trumpets, the bass, and Tom's incredible work on synths all fits perfectly to create something remarkable. Then the guitar riffs come is sharply, sounding a different song completely from the start. Wild Eyed then coming in mid album, with more brass. Monica Gems sees glimpses of inspiration from previous albums, and Oceans Burning finishes the album off fittingly. A soft intro, Faris' voice mumbles under Josh's guitar and more synths. Slower than most of the other tracks, it creates an atmosphere of tremendous at ease and happiness. The track then turns into a heavy outbreak of instruments until fading down into nothing. By the time the track is on it's final beats, you wonder how The Horrors can create such wonderful music. All i can say is that with that alone, they've become an incredibly inspiring young band, who can actually play their instruments very very well. Skying is going to take alot of beating, however i said that when they released Primary Colours. So the fourth one is bound to be beyond compare.
